Shïppa-63 is the project of Mark Hoy. Describing himself as a Solo Band, rather than the typical One-Man Band, his aim is to create the sound of a full 3+ piece band in all of his songs. His music style is heavily influenced by British Pop/Rock/Punk, as well as the sounds of some current bands such as Silversun Pickups, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Band of Skulls. All songs are written and performed by Mark - the guitar and bass are recorded in the bedroom, drums in the loungeroom, keyboards on the dining room table and all vocals are performed in the wardrobe (superb dampening by the clothes and the neighbours don't complain!).
Covers include songs by Gary Numan, Fischer Z and Rick Astley…indications of a diverse range.
